Our Vision is that all of Maryland's diverse gifted and talented children and youth are supported, valued, and nurtured at home, in their learning environments, and in their communities. It is our belief that every student should experience the joy of learning something new each day.
Our Mission
To educate about and advocate for an excellent and equitable education for Maryland's diverse gifted and talented children.
To achieve this mission, MCGATE has identified the following goals:
To educate families, caregivers, and the community about the needs of the gifted and talented.
To promote advocacy and action at local, state, and national levels.
To inform local, state, and other public and private institutions about the needs of gifted and talented individuals.
To support local associations dedicated to the interests of the gifted and talented.
To facilitate a statewide communications network to implement these goals.

A winning advocacy approach harnesses the power of three: self, school, system.
Join our panel of Maryland experts as they share winning strategies for:
Self-advocacy: Teaching gifted and talented learners to advocate for themselves empowers them to effectively pursue practical alternatives to the status quo.
School-based advocacy: Parents and caregivers need to know effective ways to communicate their child’s unique needs and possible solutions to classroom teachers and school administrators.
System-based advocacy: GT Education policy and funding is fundamentally local. Learn ways you can inform and influence decisions made by your local Board of Education.
